Flamenco festival at Sadler’s Wells

Do you love dancing? Do you love theatre? Are you learning Spanish?

If your answers are YES, this blog is for you. If not, I am sure you like enjoying  your free time so also read it.

Lately in London they are doing lots of performances and shows related with Spanish speaking countries or Latino culture and we should take advantage of that.

Sadler´s Wells, lately, has been showing lots of shows and I believe they were a great success because they scheduled three new shows related with Spanish and South American culture.

Sadler´s Wells, is a performing arts venue in Clerkenwell, next to Angel station. It is one of the oldest theatres in London, as the present-day theatre is the sixth on the site since 1683.

So… what are the shows?

  • Flamenco festival London (14th February to 25th February): If you like Flamenco that is something you have to highlight in your agenda. Sadler´s Wells has been performing this flamenco week for 14 years. This year’s 15th anniversary Flamenco Festival London offers a vibrant spectrum of flamenco from the traditional Gypsy roots to its modern-day incarnations, performed by some of the world’s most outstanding and legendary flamenco dance and music talent.

You will be able to see different performances: cantaores (flamenco singers), flamenco guitarist or flamenco dancers.

  • Tango after dark (28th February to 17th March): When night falls, tango is revealed in its most authentic and pure form. Tango after Dark is an intimate and sensual performance with exquisitely danced choreography to the wonderful rhythms of the great Astor Piazzolla and tango superstar Germán Cornejo together with 10 world-class Argentinean dancers.

Accompanied by two sensational singers and seven musicians playing tango classics, this is an unforgettable evening that will keep your passion for tango burning deep into the night and take you to Buenos Aires.

  • Carmen La Cubana (1st to 18th August): Carmen La Cubana is a sizzling new musical featuring Bizet´s classic score flavoured with authentic Cuban styles. The performance is inspired by a Broadway hit Carmen Jones, with new orchestrations mixing opera with salsa, mambo, rumba and cha-cha-cha and including favourites such as Habanera. The play is set during the Cuban Revolution in 1958.
