Feria de Londres – South Bank, Friday 25th May to Sunday 27th.

Hola chicas y chicos,

As you probably know in Spain we like to have fun and we always try to find a good excuse to celebrate something.

Well it looks like this tradition is coming to London.

In Spain, every small town always has a “fiesta mayor” usually in honour of a Saint or Virgin. In the South of Spain those celebration are called “Ferias”. Probably the most famous ones are “Feria de abril” in Sevilla and “Feria de Málaga”.

“Ferias” are famous because everybody goes out and has a drink while enjoying some tapas. It is also traditional to dance traditional dances or after few drinks all kind of music.

This year and for second time, London fill host a Spanish feria. It will take place in Bernie Spain Gardens in South Bank from Friday 25th May to Sunday 27th.

Feria de Londres will recreate the scenes seen at many of Spain’s local Ferias to immerse you in the fair as though you were in Andalucia rather than Southwark. During the weekend, there will be chances for everyone to get involved with celebrations: from “Sevillana” dance lessons to flamenco rhythm workshops, and also  family-friendly activities, with activities for children in the form of face painting, hair styling, arts and crafts.

If you are wondering if there will be drinks and tapas, that is a big YES. Tio Pepe, Spain’s most famous fino, will be hosting a series of sherry tasting masterclasses where guests will be able to explore the different styles of Spain’s most iconic wine. They will also offer the traditional Andalusian cocktail, a Rebujito, consisting of Fino sherry, lemonade, fresh mint on the rocks – the perfect summer drink.

And there will be lots of casetas offering tapas, from croquetas to Iberian ham, pimientos del padrón and paella.

¡Nos vemos en la Feria de Londres!
