Your Teacher

"іHola! I am Alba and I am from León, a small and beautiful city in the Northwest of Spain.

I have studied two degrees at the University of León (Spanish language and literature & English language and literature) and also a Master’s degree in teaching Spanish to both native and foreign students (QTS – Qualified Teacher Status). I have also worked for several institutions such as the University of Greenwich.

I am a passionate and enthusiastic teacher who is very willing to teach you some Spanish! And of course not only the language but also some of our culture.

I use the communicative approach in my classes and I try to make them as funny as possible! I truly believe learning does not have to be boring and I also try to break down complicated concepts to simple examples that you are able to understand.

I really hope you enjoy learning with us!"

Survival Spanish

About Us

We’re a little different from other language schools. Our roots lie in the Spanish further education sector and here at Holborn our students have as much fun learning as we have teaching. That’s why our courses are so effective and why our students say our lessons are rewarding and so much fun.

More about this course

This 15-hour course over 5 weeks is for beginner students (levels 2 -3 )

Here the focus is on communication as we cover some essential topics such as accommodation, restaurants, shopping and transport.

A1 (levels 2-3) available over 3-weeks or 5 weeks

Learn the communicative Spanish skills to use straight away in everyday practical situations
  • Essential phrases: greetings and farewells; asking basic information.
  • Transports and schedules: timetables, arrivals and departures, prices.
  • Getting around the city: vocabulary, location and directions.
  • Accommodation: vocabulary used at hotels, apartments and additional services.
  • At the restaurant (food and menus): vocabulary, ordering, enquiring and booking a table.
  • Shopping: vocabulary about souvenirs, clothes and daily products and asking for things and their prices.
  • Entertainment: vocabulary about free time activities, going to the tourist office and enquiring about museums, performances and trips (timetables, prices and useful information).
  • At the doctor: vocabulary about health and illness, going to the hospital and expressing symptoms.

We use powerful learning tools such as presentations, images, videos and audio tapes that stimulate our lessons and encourage students to engage with each other in developing the four essential skills – reading, speaking, listening and writing.
