"¡Hola! I’m Sonia, from Córdoba, a beautiful historical city in the south of Spain.
I hold a BA in English Studies, an MA in Linguistics and another Master’s Degree in Education. I also have a course from the Instituto Cervantes in teaching Spanish as a foreign language.
I started teaching in my first year of university and I haven’t stopped since then. It makes 12 years now. I love teaching because it allows me to participate in something as important as the learning process of amazing individuals.
When I teach, I always try to cause, what I call, “the awe effect of your personal achievements”, which appears when you realise you are learning, understanding and producing more Spanish than you expected. I love making everyone feel comfortable and active in class, making you have fun while learning, and going home with that feeling of a satisfactory evening.
I hope to see you soon in class! ¡Hasta pronto!"
We're a little different from other language schools. Our roots lie in the Spanish further education sector and here at Holborn our students have as much fun learning as we have teaching. That’s why our courses are so effective and why our students say our lessons are rewarding and so much fun.
This course is part two of the Intermediate B1 syllabus.
It’s a 20 hour course during which you follow an established model of teaching through spoken and written activities, extra reading, tests, reviews, ideas, and games in pairs or groups.
We use powerful learning tools such as presentations, images, videos and audio tapes that stimulate our lessons and encourage students to engage with each other in developing the four essential skills – reading, speaking, listening and writing.

A great teacher who leads an interactive class. It’s a great way of learning.
I thought the amount to learn was well judged for an adult group and the quality of teaching Excellent. I intend to continue to the next level.
Good activities and structure of the course to build on each topic. Classes were really interactive and all students extremely involved and keen to learn. Alberto was a great teacher, extremely encouraging and pushed the class to do its best throughout the course.
I thought that the teacher was excellent and very much enjoyed the course – I will be continuing on to the next one which starts next week.
I thought it was good to follow the course book and appreciated the extra activities.
The only thing I would change/ask for are to do more listening activities on the class (from native language recordings) and to have more written homework set so that I can practice my writing more and have it corrected.
Thank you Clara!
Tatiana created a warm environment and made learning Spanish accessible when I have previously found languages to be really hard. The activities and workbook aided the in-class work and I found the homework to be really helpful. Personally, I wish I could have been available for the conversation classes, as I think this would have been helpful.
Muy bien. Very enjoyable. Carolina is a very good teacher who made it so enjoyable.
All classroom teaching was well planned, there were lots of different activities; very good. The e-mail of the class activities is very useful.
Engaging, Andi was friendly and good at explaining things
I had fun and learnt at the same time!
