"¡Hola! I’m Sonia, from Córdoba, a beautiful historical city in the south of Spain.
I hold a BA in English Studies, an MA in Linguistics and another Master’s Degree in Education. I also have a course from the Instituto Cervantes in teaching Spanish as a foreign language.
I started teaching in my first year of university and I haven’t stopped since then. It makes 12 years now. I love teaching because it allows me to participate in something as important as the learning process of amazing individuals.
When I teach, I always try to cause, what I call, “the awe effect of your personal achievements”, which appears when you realise you are learning, understanding and producing more Spanish than you expected. I love making everyone feel comfortable and active in class, making you have fun while learning, and going home with that feeling of a satisfactory evening.
I hope to see you soon in class! ¡Hasta pronto!"
We're a little different from other language schools. Our roots lie in the Spanish further education sector and here at Holborn our students have as much fun learning as we have teaching. That’s why our courses are so effective and why our students say our lessons are rewarding and so much fun.
This course is part one of the Intermediate B1 syllabus.
It’s a 20 hour course during which you follow an established model of teaching through spoken and written activities, extra reading, tests, reviews, ideas, and games in pairs or groups.
We use powerful learning tools such as presentations, images, videos and audio tapes that stimulate our lessons and encourage students to engage with each other in developing the four essential skills – reading, speaking, listening and writing.

Very engaging. Teaching was precise and supportive.
A thoughtful, enjoyable ten weeks course that covered concepts in a fun manner. The teaching was excellent.
Great lesson and great group. Met all my objectives and I’ll continue learning Spanish.
Very good teaching: fun and challenging. There is always a great atmosphere and we have a lot of fun. I always have a sense of satisfaction after the lesson.
Amaya is a fantastic teacher who brings the course to life in an engaging and fun way. The programme challenges me but is set at the right pace.
I enjoyed the classes a lot! They were as good and interesting as the ones in Level 1! Noelia is a great teacher; I’ll go with her to Level 3! Muchas gracias!
All classes are very interactive. The teacher is very supportive. I would recommend the school to everyone!
Very much enjoy it. Amaya is an excellent teacher. She’s very clear and always comes to class full of energy and with a smile! I found each class had clear objectives and Amaya answered any questions I had. A major plus of the course has been the conversation classes, which I’ve found very useful.
The course was great and I really enjoyed the method used by the teacher to teach: there was never a boring moment. It was good being able to talk in Spanish and I found all the homework very useful.
