"¡Hola! I’m Sonia, from Córdoba, a beautiful historical city in the south of Spain.
I hold a BA in English Studies, an MA in Linguistics and another Master’s Degree in Education. I also have a course from the Instituto Cervantes in teaching Spanish as a foreign language.
I started teaching in my first year of university and I haven’t stopped since then. It makes 12 years now. I love teaching because it allows me to participate in something as important as the learning process of amazing individuals.
When I teach, I always try to cause, what I call, “the awe effect of your personal achievements”, which appears when you realise you are learning, understanding and producing more Spanish than you expected. I love making everyone feel comfortable and active in class, making you have fun while learning, and going home with that feeling of a satisfactory evening.
I hope to see you soon in class! ¡Hasta pronto!"
We're a little different from other language schools. Our roots lie in the Spanish further education sector and here at Holborn our students have as much fun learning as we have teaching. That’s why our courses are so effective and why our students say our lessons are rewarding and so much fun.
This course is part one of the Intermediate B1 syllabus.
It’s a 20 hour course during which you follow an established model of teaching through spoken and written activities, extra reading, tests, reviews, ideas, and games in pairs or groups.
We use powerful learning tools such as presentations, images, videos and audio tapes that stimulate our lessons and encourage students to engage with each other in developing the four essential skills – reading, speaking, listening and writing.

Very well structured and well planned. Dynamic teacher, varied activities and challenging! (GOOD)
Excellent course and the conversation classes are very helpful too.
I really like Yaiza’s teaching style. She is fun and informative and her passion for teaching Spanish shows through.
The atmosphere is a relaxed one. The teaching is tailored to each of our needs.
Surprisingly it was a lot easier to learn a language in this course than back in high school!
Really enjoyed the teaching style, I was able to stay focussed throughout the lesson.
Even though I’m going through busy times and wasn’t able to do much revision, I was still able to absorb the course content and will find it beneficial on my next trip to Spain!
All classes are very interactive. The teacher is very supportive. I would recommend the school to everyone!
It was a great course. I’ll definitely take another course for level 2. I love Cristina’s methods and teaching. Such a good experience to be with a great group and a great teacher for five days!
Very good course & program included both written and spoken. Clara is extremely patient & size of group was really good.
The programme was thorougly enjoyable and educational. The interactive environment aided learning and recall of words and phrases. The teacher, Amaya is thorough, helpful and inspires you to study and learn Spanish.
