іHola! I am Maria from Jaén, a small city in southern Spain. I am a qualified teacher with a BA degree in English Language and Literature, a degree in Tourism and a Master’s degree in teaching. I have been teaching for many years including secondary schools in Spain and in London.
I love teaching Spanish but what I like the most is when my students’ confidence grows and I help them achieve their goals. I enjoy meeting new people and exchanging ideas and experiences. I always try to create dynamic, fun lessons where my students are constantly engaged.
I am looking forward to meeting you at Vamos!"
We're a little different from other language schools. Our roots lie in the Spanish further education sector and here at Holborn our students have as much fun learning as we have teaching. That’s why our courses are so effective and why our students say our lessons are rewarding and so much fun.
This is the first course in our A2 Elementary levels 4-6.
It’s a 20 hour course aimed at students who have already completed A1 levels 1, 2 and 3. You will follow an established model of teaching through spoken and written activities, extra reading, tests, reviews, ideas, and games in pairs or groups.
We use powerful learning tools such as presentations, images, videos and audio tapes that stimulate our lessons and encourage students to engage with each other in developing the four essential skills – reading, speaking, listening and writing.

Excellent. I’m amazed at how much I have learned, understood and can speak after this week long intensive. The size of the class was just right which enabled quality 1:1 interaction. Maria was very energetic, attentive and personable.
The classes with Carol were just great, very well structured, entertaining and highly motivating.
It was a really good introduction to Spanish, the book was really good and the teacher was really helpful.
Continues to be loads of fun and very practical. The most enjoyable way to learn a language.
Excellent Amazing teacher
Really well formatted and organised. Great fun and range of learning techniques. Made it a really great way to learn Spanish. Teaching was excellent and enthusiastic and engaging.
Level 8 was considerably harder for me than level 7, and I feel like I’ve struggled. Although it’s been challenging though, I’ve liked that more of the lesson is conducted in Spanish than in previous levels. Vicky encourages a lot of conversation at the start of each class, which has really helped me to develop my speaking skills so although it’s become a lot more difficult, it’s also become more rewarding. These classes continue to be the highlight of my week 🙂
The Libro de Actividades is a brilliant resource, and Kahoot is a fun and engaging way for us to assess our comprehension as we progress. I always read the notes on the Vamos platform after class, so the more detailed those notes are, the better for me. I also always check out any recommendations for sites/series/books when offered. I frequently read articles on practicaespanol.com, do activities on profedeele.es and spanishdict.com, and I listen to Los40 and the ‘Notes in Spanish’ podcast.
It may not seem like it (!) but I do a lot of work outside of class as this doesn’t come naturally to me – so I like it when we’re given ideas for extra resources, and ideas to make learning fun.
I absolutely love this school, and will be continuing my language journey with Vamos into L9 and beyond. As soon as travel gets back to normal as well, I’d love to go back to the Vamos school in Valencia for a B1 revision course with Jordi!
Thought it was great. Diana has been a fantastic teacher and has been extremely helpful and patient with all of us. Thank you, Diana!
I have enjoyed the past few weeks a lot. Each class has been a unique experience. I loved the energy of my teacher, Amaya, and the way she does the lesson. It is interactive; we were revising each time without even knowing it. I have learned a lot and I would recommend it to everyone who thinks of learning Spanish. I can’t wait for level 3!
