"¡Hola! I’m Andrea from Bilbao, in the north of Spain!
I have a 4-year degree in Spanish Studies from the University of Deusto, which covered linguistics, literature, grammar and the history of the Spanish language and I later qualified as a teacher of Spanish as a Foreign Language.
I am an official DELE examiner (awarded by Institute Cervantes, London) for levels A1 to C2.
Since joining Vamos in September 2012, I became part of the academic department where my responsibilities included the recruitment and training of new teachers.
I am now the school's Director of Studies.
My teaching style places particular emphasis on the communicative approach and I always want my students to get the most out of their lesson.
I love teaching so much that it hardly feels like a job and I hope you enjoy your course at ¡Vamos!"
We're a little different from other language schools. Our roots lie in the Spanish further education sector and here at Holborn our students have as much fun learning as we have teaching. That’s why our courses are so effective and why our students say our lessons are rewarding and so much fun.
This is part one of 3 levels that form the A1 starting point to learning Spanish.
It’s a 20 hour course. You will follow an established model of teaching through spoken and written activities, extra reading, tests, reviews, ideas, and games in pairs or groups.
We use powerful learning tools such as presentations, images, videos and audio tapes that stimulate our lessons and encourage students to engage with each other in developing the four essential skills – reading, speaking, listening and writing.

I loved it! I’m really happy with my Spanish and I’m already able to speak it a bit. Andrea is super professional, patient, experienced and helpful. I loved everything about this course, I really really hope you will never change the teacher!
Alba is a fantastic teacher, very helpful and supportive, she explains things very well. I have really enjoyed this course.
Jessica is an amazing teacher. Classes are well structured and interactive. The classmates were all interested in learning Spanish and interacted well with one another. Look forward to starting the next level.
Excellent introduction to learning Spanish. The exercises and activities built nicely from week to week and the energy and enthusiasm from Paula was inspiring – in such a short time I have learnt a lot. I’ll definitely be continuing to level 2! Thank you Paula 🙂
I enjoyed it; the teacher and class were good to learn with. All in all, a very good experience.
The program is good and the teaching style is great. The problem is the book if I fall behind I can´t do self-study. Great support if I do miss a lesson. Thanks for all the effort and support.
There was a gradual build up in difficulty. Homework was fitted into the learning and I liked the idea of going over it at the start of each lesson. Within the group there were a variety of abilities but it was possible for everybody to keep up and there was a social acceptance by those who were better. The group was very friendly and Ruth is fantastic.
– Good range of activities to make it fun.
– Ruth encouraged us to ask questions.
– Test to reinforce knowledge was a good idea.
– Good amount of time on each topic, more for the harder ones.
The course is well structured, with a variety of activities to make classes fun and enjoyable. Andi is an excellent teacher, and has certainly inspired me to continue.
