My name is María and I am from Madrid. I have also lived in Argentina, Italy and Canada. I have a Master Degree in Audiovisual Communication and I speak 4 languages (Spanish, Italian, English and French). During the last 10 years I have gained an extensive experience in teaching (classes for adults, groups, companies, children) as well as in technical and literary translation (books for children, videogames, websites, subtitles). The wide spectrum of skills that I achieved is thanks to these different experiences and makes me able to manage different situations and deal with many kinds of people.
I am also specialised in creative writing and I am an author of some picture books for children.
We're a little different from other language schools. Our roots lie in the Spanish further education sector and here at Holborn our students have as much fun learning as we have teaching. That’s why our courses are so effective and why our students say our lessons are rewarding and so much fun.
This is part one of 3 levels that form the A1 starting point to learning Spanish.
It’s a 20 hour course. You will follow an established model of teaching through spoken and written activities, extra reading, tests, reviews, ideas, and games in pairs or groups.
We use powerful learning tools such as presentations, images, videos and audio tapes that stimulate our lessons and encourage students to engage with each other in developing the four essential skills – reading, speaking, listening and writing.

I’m really enjoying this course. The class is easy to understand. Compared with my previous course at a different place (where I dropped out after the third lesson) it’s really well organised.
Maria is the best teacher, and I like learning Spanish at Vamos.
An excellent language. I have studied various languages and attended different classes and this is one of the best. I was unsure of my linguistic level and Russell was very helpful in placing me in the right class. Carol is an excellent teacher: patient, clear, full of energy and ideas, and she communicates this with enthusiasm. The material was both interesting and topical. I will definitely continue with Vamos!
I really enjoyed it and I’m definitely continuing with Patricia into another level. Great school, I’ve learned a lot during these 10 weeks. I’m really looking forward to completing all the levels with our lovely Patricia!
The 5 week course is clearly going to be a lot more intense than the 10 week course, however the teaching methods used are interesting and keep you engaged throughout the class. After realising how much vocab there is to learn after each class I look forward to the 10 week course which I-m sure will be equally as interesting but should allow me to take on more words and sentence structure.
Excellent introduction to learning Spanish. The exercises and activities built nicely from week to week and the energy and enthusiasm from Paula was inspiring – in such a short time I have learnt a lot. I’ll definitely be continuing to level 2! Thank you Paula 🙂
The course was very good, the activities were varied and enjoyable. Andrea especially was very helpful at trying to schedule catch up classes for me.
Very interesting engaging and fun. A good way to learn Spanish.
It was really good. Really nice teaching method and focus on student. I came with zero Spanish and in one month at least I can understand that’s great. Want to continue more. Many thanks
