Juan Guaidó, autoproclamado presidente interino de Venezuela, se reunió ayer con el líder opositor Leopoldo López en la embajada española en Caracas. El activista Leopoldo López fue liberado de su arresto domiciliario a primeras horas de la mañana el 30 de abril y buscó refugio en la embajada española tras comparecer con el líder opositor Juan Guaidó pidiendo a los venezolados una rebelión para derrocar al presidente Nicolás Maduro. Hablando con los periodistas, dijo que había más “movimientos militares” en camino. España ha dicho que no permitirá que las autoridades venezolanas entren en su embajada en Caracas y arresten a Leopoldo López, pero el ministro de Asuntos Exteriores, Josep Borrell, dejó claro que “España no va a permitir que su Embajada se convierta en un centro de activismo político”.

Juan Guaidó, self-proclaimed interim president of Venezuela, met yesterday with the opposition leader Leopoldo López at the Spanish embassy in Caracas. Activist Mr López was freed from house arrest in the early morning hours of April 30 and sought refuge at the Spanish embassy after appearing with opposition leader Juan Guaidó to call for a rebellion to oust President Nicolás Maduro. Speaking to reporters, he said more “military movements” were on the way. Spain has said that it will not allow Venezuelan authorities to enter its embassy in Caracas and arrest Leopoldo López, but Foreign Minister Josep Borrell made it clear that “Spain will not allow its headquarters to become a center for political activism”.
