2. What is the typical student profile on a Vamos course?

Our courses are for adults of all ages (min 18 years old) and nationalities and for all levels from beginners upwards. For most courses, the average age range is mid 20s to mid 40s, however many younger and older students take these courses.

3. How soon should I enrol?

We ask that you book the earlier the better because that ensures we have the correct number. If we do not have the minimum number of students for courses, we may have to cancel the course, in which case the course you wanted may disappear off the site.

4. Can I join a class in the second week?

Yes, if there is space on the course we can take bookings for students wishing to join the class in the second week, however there will be no discount to the price. You will need to call us to check availability. Beyond the second week we do not allow any students to join the course as this is too disruptive to the learning program.

5. How do I know if there are places available on a course?

The start date will show next to the course or the course will not show at all on the Courses page. All courses with dates have places available on the course.

6. What is the minimum number of students on a course?

We require a minimum number of students to be able run a group course. In the unlikely event that the minimum number of students is not met, this is the process we will follow:

Where possible we will offer you a place on a confirmed course in a different location. Or we may decide to merge groups, which may also require a change of location.

Where a move to another location is not practical, the course may still run (at our discretion), even if the minimum number of students is not met.

In the case of our 10-week courses, the course duration in this instance is likely to be reduced to 8 weeks. This is due to the significantly intensified learning experience and progress in such small groups, which will mean that you will cover the course material in a much shorter amount of time.

Should neither of the above option be practical, you can choose to:

Keep your credit and defer a term, in order to take your originally chosen course at the next available start date. (Courses run throughout the year with regular start dates)

Request for your credit to be refunded back to you in full, including any credit card fees.

Course Information

1. How do I know what level I am?

If you are not sure which class to choose, read our Levels descriptions or take the online level test.

2. Do teachers speak English during the lessons?

The most effective way to learn or improve a language skill is through complete immersion in the language. So while the occasional explanation or vocabulary term may be explained in English, the majority of the lesson is taught in Spanish. Be assured we will have no trouble in making ourselves understood even by students who have little or no knowledge of Spanish.

3. Can I receive a qualification or certificate?

Yes, you can receive an end of course certificate that will confirm the course you have taken and the level you have achieved. It requires you complete our online end of course questionnaire, which will be sent to you by email.

4. How much homework is typically involved?

You will get approximately one hour’s worth of formal homework per class/session, but in addition and in particular with a 10-week course, we would recommend you do a further ten minutes per day of self study to further assimilate and retain the information you are learning.

5. What happens if I find do my class is too easy or too difficult for me?

If at the end of your first lesson you find you’re really are struggling to keep up or are finding the course content too easy, you can switch classes within the first two weeks of your course. Please speak to your teacher and contact us. We will review the situation and look to move you to a class more suited to your ability (subject to availability). If this is not possible, there are other options, including deferring a term. Otherwise our general refund policy will apply.

6. What happens if I miss a lesson during the course?

We recommend that you tell us as soon as you know that you are going to miss a class. We can either email you details of what was covered in the class you missed and/or give you the entire lesson again over the internet along with any homework set.

7. What do I do if I am going to miss the first lesson?

Please let us know so that we can advise your teacher.

8. What if my teacher is ill during the course?

If your teacher is ill during the term we will organise a cover teacher to take your lesson. If no cover teacher is available we will either reschedule the lesson to take place on a different day or give you a refund for the class.

9. How big are the classes?

Our maximum class size is 12 students.
